English Language Course Information

This is an ideal opportunity for clients to improve their English, learn a new skill (or continue with an existing hobby) and to have fun, all at the same time. By following an interest or by practising a hobby in English, clients extend their learning experience and improve their language skills as well as gaining in confidence.

On this course, clients have 20 morning One to One or Group lessons of General or Business English starting at 0900 hours and finishing at 1230 hours.  There is a 30 minute mid-morning coffee break.  Refreshments and lunches are provided by the school and taken with Bournemouth One to One teaching staff.  This gives clients the opportunity to practise their social English.

In the afternoons clients are taken to their activities, which are usually of one or two hours per day.  All courses are taught by qualified teachers.

Activity Course Information

The afternoon sessions on antiques, starting at 1330 and finishing at 1500 hours, include a fascinating insight into the areas of English silver, china, furniture and objets d'Art.  Clients also have a brief introduction to the hallmark system in England and learn how to tell the difference between a fake and the real thing in the world of antiques.

The course also includes a visit to local auction rooms for viewing prior to the auction and a visit to the local museum to study pieces there as well as a visit to a local antique market based in an historic market town.

Number in the group

The above course can also be run on a 1 to 1, 1 to 2, 1 to 3 or 1 to 4 basis.  For prices for these groups please contact the school.

Testing

Bournemouth One to One's 3 Stage Testing System enables our teaching staff to focus on the language needs of each individual client.

The client's progress is constantly monitored and the course will be adapted to include other areas of  language that the client is having problems with.  The client is consulted at every stage of the course.

Teaching Staff

All members of staff at Bournemouth One to One have a great deal of experience in teaching both Business English and General English as well as teaching English for exams.  They include Cambridge examiners, ELT (English Language Teaching) authors and teacher trainers.

Price

The price includes registration and enrolment fees, tuition fees, course materials, refreshments and light lunches at the school Monday to Friday, social activities (such as visits to the cinema or theatre plus a weekend half-day excursion including lunch with the Director) as well as the activity.

Accommodation

We can arrange high quality host family, residential or hotel accommodation for clients.

We recommend host family accommodation since it enables the client to continue experiencing an English speaking environment in a more relaxed way, even when they are not studying at the school.  This ensures total immersion in the language.

We have a number of excellent host families who offer high quality accommodation, some including ensuite facilities.  Clients normally stay with local host families who are chosen by the school to match their personal requirements and who will invite the clients to join in their social activities.  It is possible to be the only person in the family, if the client prefers.

Accommodation is booked from Saturday prior to the start of each course.  The client normally departs on the Saturday after the course.

Hotel accommodation can be arranged by the school if the client prefers.  Clients are responsible for paying their own hotel bills.

Social Activities

Evening activities (for example, going to the theatre, the cinema or to concerts) plus a weekend half-day excursion including lunch with the Director are included in the price.

Group Courses

Each member of the group must have a similar level of English.

Exclusivity

The exclusive nature of the school enables clients to have maximum opportunity to practise their English, since the tea/coffee breaks and lunches are always taken with members of staff. Normally there are no more than 8 clients in the school at any one time.  In addition, clients have the opportunity to be the only guest in the host family.
